it's been very cold here all week, not like Autumn, more like winter, but today is gorgeous. The sun's out and there is a bit of warmth in it as well.
Well another extremely busy week, but as well as continuing to be busy at work life at home has been crazy as well..... we have decided to take the plunge and decided the time is right, to continue on with our renovations. So stage two will be window frames, weather boards, the front porch and hopefully something done with the kitchen. Oh and then of course painting the house.....mmmmm quite a list I know but needs must so it's going to be exciting if not scary. But the action starts on Monday with a round of visits from trades-people and discussions, quotes decision making etc etc.
But firstly tomorrow I have the day off and I'm going to spend it with my scrap buddies, not scrapping but making cards cos........my new Tilda stamps arrived on Thursday and I haven't had a chance to get them near ink and paper so I'm desperate to play.
So I must go and start packing my stuff so that I don't have chaos in the morning.
Not being awful but I won't mind if work is a teeny bit quieter tonight tee hee.
Oh before I go, anyone in the Dunedin area you must try the new Gaslight cafe that has opened on St Andrew street, their chef is Logan McPherson, a two times Beef and Lamb Ambassador, and a wonderfully creative guy. His menu is based on French and Italian cafe type food and will be amazing. Check it out.
As for me....I'. gone! Ltr.

The Last Night

I created this layout yesterday after my final night at the restaurant. I had an awesome night, we were busy, had good staff nice diners and a lot of nice things were said at the end of the evening by the boss, leaving me with this feeling of feeling appreciated and knowing that I could go back at some other time if I choose to. MMM. food for thought there, a bit of this a bit of that sounds quite tempting.
Went for dinner with my staff last night, it was a very special evening, mixed emotions, some happy, some sad but a determination to keep in touch that's for sure. I have been blessed with some very cool people to work with and I hope they know they have been very much appreciated.
Anyway today I'm officially on holiday Yahoo!
So what to do......got a long list.!

The Morning after the morning after...
Well here I am and it's Monday. I still feel absolutely exhausted after our absolute marathon of a Saturday night. We had a wedding booked at the restaurant, they were arriving at 7, dining at 8. Yes well as these things go we were serving entrees at 9 and so you can see the picture. It was a late one, but for some reason it was also a frenetic one. I felt like I spent equal amount of time washing dishes as I did in the restaurant, actually no that would be more time.
Then when it was over there was mammoth glass polishing, dish washing, linen folding etc etc. But I think what finally did me in was that here we were at around 2am moving heavy tables from storage back into the restaurant so we could set-up and leave the restaurant ready for tonight.
Don't get me wrong, I love this restaurant and this job but my body just doesn't cope with a 3.45am finish, running continuously from 6pm till finish just isn't as easy as it used to be.Which brings me to whats on my mind today: It's hard to realise that you are no longer "ten foot tall and bullet proof", it's hard to accept that I am not just going to recover after a decent sleep like I used to. It drives me nuts to know that I shouldn't be putting myself under this kind of pressure, mentally or physically, aparently it isn't good for someone who has Luekemia, but there's the thing I'm in total remission, most of the time I feel fine and then after a weekend like this I am sharply reminded that my body doesn't want to cope with this kind of thing any more. ( And that's not even going near the fact that at 55 your body can't react like when you were 20!)
Anyway just need to sit in the sun I guess, drink water and hope this horible feeling passes.....real soon. I keep wanting to finish my nieces birthday card and I just don't have the mental or physical energy damn it.
Ah well where's the coffee?
